What’s Next? Helvetica Skywriting?

Posted by Jeromy

Just in case you are not quite sick of seeing Helvetica, now you can eat it. That’s right, Helvetica cookie cutters.

Now don’t get me wrong, I think the idea of Typography cookie cutters is pretty cool. “Mom, can you pass me the milk? I need to eat my capital T.”

But Helvetica? I guess it’s like Dr Pepper: you either love it or hate it.

It could be worse, I suppose. They could have made Comic Sans cookie cutters.

HATER! ;) I don’t use helvetica much in design…so for conversation sake – between 2 designers, what do you like for an “instead of” typeset?

Well, depends of course on the project, but are familiar with Mrs Eaves? They just released a san-serif version called Mr. Eaves (brilliant, I know) that I really like and use quite often. Its x-height is smaller and has a certain elegance to it. You can view it here: http://www.emigre.com/EFfeature.php?di=213

You?
