Jan Tschichold Poster
Jan Tschochold (1902-1974) is an exercise is dichotomy: at once embracing classical design then rejecting it passionately for the new Bauhaus-style modern design then back to classic design, almost with a vengeance. This poster helps show the classic and modern styles that he both embraced and rejected, and the tension that lies between the two. The person hanging the poster can decide the orientation to emphasize either the “classic” or the “modern” Tschichold. The other design element of this poster is that you can create an on-going pattern using multiple posters.
These posters were created for an Artist’s Poster assignment advertising the artist’s upcoming speaking engagement.
